Individual adults ages 16 and up and couples–anxiety, depression, trauma, intimate betrayal, life transitions, and spiritual issues, EMDR trained
As an older woman, I have noticed that life often has seasons. Some seasons are filled with excitement, anticipation, and joy. I hope these times last forever, but they do not. Other seasons are filled with hardships, losses, and uncertainties. I fear these seasons will never end, but they eventually do. Incredibly, some seasons contain both sorrow and joy simultaneously. During these times, I often wonder how to both grieve and celebrate without losing authenticity in either experience.
No matter what season of life you are in or what difficulties you face, I am passionate about working collaboratively with my clients to meet their therapy goals. During sessions, I hope that you will feel seen, heard, valued, respected, encouraged, and equipped with the tools and resources helpful to you as you take your next steps toward the people and things most important to you.
I have experience addressing a variety of life issues: anxiety, boundaries, communication issues, depression, grief and loss, intimate betrayal, relationship concerns, perfectionism, spiritual issues, life transitions, and trauma. My therapeutic approach is client-specific and based on the unique personality, temperament, life experience, culture, and personal values of my client. I conceptualize cases through a family systems framework and often select tools and resources from evidence-based therapies such as ACT, CBT, Gottman Couple’s Therapy, EMDR, and other trauma-informed therapy resources.
In my previous career, I served in managerial roles in the private health care sector utilizing my undergraduate degree in Business Administration: Accounting and my CPA designation, which I now keep in an inactive status with the state of Tennessee.
I am a Chattanoogan by birth and speak “Southern English” fluently. I have been married for over 30 years and have four children ranging in age from 17 to 29, and one amazing daughter-in-law, whom I consider my own daughter. In my spare time, I enjoy time with friends and family, reading a good book, baking cookies, game nights, and trips to the beach
